Learning how to pray for healing

I've been watching, observing, experimenting about prayer for healing. In my own experience, dramatic healing is so rare. I've been to healing rallies; have organized them; have been part of the praying team moving down the rows of people lining up in front for prayer. I've seen people fall; have heard them testify of healing from pain but have yet to see the lame walk, the blind see.

This being so, I felt that it's probably better not to be struck by diseases or conditions than to have them and only then start praying for their removal. So very early in my ministry years (70s & 80s) I began to pray for God to cover me with his 'umbrella' to shield me from these conditions raining down upon humankind. I prayed for my loved ones and I to be protected from debilitating diseases, sicknesses, conditions and so on. I continue to pray this way.

I also learnt to act very quickly when germs come to attack like cough, flu, especially to pray against them taking hold of my system. Sometimes I fail and end up in bed for a week or so. I conclude that I need the rest and thank God for it. Sometimes I succeed in keeping those germs at bay and thank God for it too, rejoicing in the authority I have to command.

But the harder conditions e.g. allergy, chronic pain like my plantar fasciitis proble that has been a problem for the last 3 years or so and comes and goes. I pray everyday for it, against it, over it. I have consulted many doctors. Have had Xrays taken of my foot. Am wearing special shoes. And recently bought an aircast. I wear rubber slippers (thongs) at home. Tread carefully and not stomp. Exercise. Rub with ointment, massage it but... it's taking so long. Medical treatment is to have an steroid injection, which I had once and it helped me instantly. It kept the pain away for a year but then it came back again. I'm advised against doing it too often as it's not good. So am relying on conservative treatment and prayer. I'm looking forward to the day when my faith and authority in Christ is sufficient to command healing.
